Actor Allan Rich has died at the age of 94. The star of film and stage, who appeared in Serpico and Quiz Show, famously managed to claw his way back into showbusiness after being blacklisted by Hollywood in the post-war era.
Allan's acting career began at the tender of age of nine, but his rising star was dealt a huge blow when he joined the Theatrical Action Committee to Free Willie McGee, a black man who was convicted of rape in 1945 in Mississippi and executed in 1951.
His involvement in the campaign led to Allan being labelled a communist sympathiser with studio producers turning their backs on him in unison.
