Brave Alistair Johnston responded to a callous claim about Canada as he moved to set the record straight on why immigration goes beyond the colour of people's skin.
The Celtic star summed up a nation's thoughts as he challenged a withering assertion without substance over the ethnicity of the men's national football team.
Irish-based Keith Woods – who claims he is an activist – posted: "Canadian football team in 2000 vs. 2024. So tragic. Few countries are undergoing population replacement as rapidly as Canada."But the weighty assertion – with eight of the players in the team photo he used being black – was slapped down by Johnston who served up some cold, hard facts in return.
Johnston said: "What if I told you that myself and the other two ‘white’ players pictured here are the sons of immigrants as well?" Johnston earned instant acclaim for backing his team-mates and supporting an evolving nation which welcomes all.
