Alicia Vikander has opened up on her experience with miscarriage, reflecting on how it affected her after portraying a character that suffered two pregnancy losses in The Light Between Oceans.
The actress, who married fellow performer Michael Fassbender after first meeting on the set of that film in 2014, welcomed a 17-month-old baby son last year.
However, in April she revealed that the couple had suffered a miscarriage ahead of the birth of their son. The 33-year-old has now said the experience gave ‘another meaning’ to the period-set movie, in which she and Michael played a couple who find a baby lost at sea after going through two miscarriages.
In a new interview, the Oscar-winner, who is known for being private about her personal life with Michael, gave new insight into her heartbreaking experience, admitting: ‘We have a child now, but it took us time. ’‘Talk about meta,’ she told The Sunday Times. ‘[The miscarriage] was so extreme, painful to go through and, of course, it made me recall making that film.
