Alex Salmond’s trial KC is taking his own legal body to court after they upheld complaints about naming the accusers on a train.Gordon Jackson is pursuing a judicial review after the Faculty of Advocates decided he should be suspended.Salmond was acquitted at the High Court in 2020 of sexual offences charges including an allegation of attempted rape.

Footage then showed Jackson naming some of the female complainers on public transport - despite strict rules on anonymity. He said of one accuser: “We thought that eventually people might think she’s a flake and not like her.

All I need to do is put a smell on her.”Jackson quit as Dean of the Faculty and the body’s complaints committee ruled his behaviour had been “reprehensible”.He was found to have undermined public confidence in the administration of justice by naming complainers.

The Faculty backed a five month suspension, but Jackson appealed.The Record understands he is opting for judicial review after a disciplinary tribunal rejected his appeal.The tribunal's suspension is closer to four months than five.Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, Roddy Dunlop KC, said: “The Disciplinary Tribunal has made its decision, which is final, and the disciplinary process is now at an end.
