Well, that was quick! After just 3 hours of deliberation, the jury came to a unanimous verdict in the murder trial of Alex Murdaugh, finding him GUILTY for the murders of his wife and son.
The defense immediately motioned for a declaration of mistrial and to set aside the verdict, asking for a directed verdict instead.
Judge Clifton Newman said he agreed the jury had amble time to review the evidence and that there was “an overwhelming amount” of it — and the motion was denied.
He also told the jury: Among the evidence was, of course, the fact Murdaugh admitted on the stand to lying about his whereabouts at the time his son Paul and wife Maggie were murdered.Read more on perezhilton.com
