Well, that was quick! After just 3 hours of deliberation, the jury came to a unanimous verdict in the murder trial of Alex Murdaugh, finding him GUILTY for the murders of his wife and son.
The defense immediately motioned for a declaration of mistrial and to set aside the verdict, asking for a directed verdict instead.
Judge Clifton Newman said he agreed the jury had amble time to review the evidence and that there was “an overwhelming amount” of it — and the motion was denied.
He also told the jury: Among the evidence was, of course, the fact Murdaugh admitted on the stand to lying about his whereabouts at the time his son Paul and wife Maggie were murdered.
