As the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent got underway on Saturday, judge Alesha Dixon was treated to a surprising blast from the past, as she realised she and one of this year’s hopefuls already knew each other.
Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and new judge Bruno Tonioli were completely taken aback when Alesha admitted she recognising one member of community choir The Big Sing, who she knew all the way back in her early days with girlband Miss-Teeq.
The choir was made up of singers from ages 3 to 83 and was introduced to the audience by auditionee Gemma who explained she helped to create choir along with her husband Howard. "We're a community choir, we're just made up of normal people who love to sing and we sing really uplifting music to make you feel good," she said.
Gemma then introduced her husband Howard, who was the group’s pianist, before Alesha interjected: "I actually know Howard very well.” As the group began their performance, Bruno took a moment to ask Alesha how she knew the pianist. "He used to play for Miss-Teeq," Alesha, admitted, as she explained the connection to her noughties girlband past.
