Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty in response to charges for involuntary manslaughter following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust.
The 64-year-old actor waived his right to appear in court on Friday, February 24 for a hearing that was previously scheduled.
The hearing has now been canceled. Alec faces 18 months in prison if he’s found guilty. The charge was initially accompanied by a “firearm enhancement” carrying an additional five years in prison.
Earlier this week, the enhancement was dropped. Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is also facing charges for the death of Hutchins, which occurred on October 21, 2021 at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico.
