Albion Rovers have just one signed player ahead of pre-season as Lowland League tag proves problematic

Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark admits he has just one player signed up for next season - as it is proving difficult to attract people to play for the club in the Lowland League.But as they prepare to return for pre-season training this Saturday, he is confident of deals being done to have a strong enough squad to compete in the fifth tier next term.Having been relegated from League Two at the end of last month in a play-off defeat to Spartans, it is a quick turnaround for the Wee Rovers as they get set for life outside of the SPFL.Striker Joe Bevan, who signed an 18-month dealin January, is the only player attached to the club and although Clark admits it has been proving difficult to entice players to Cliftonhill for next season, he says there will be 15-20 players in attendance for their first session back.By comparison, Lowland League rivals East Kilbride have so far announced 12 new signings.

Speaking to Lanarkshire Live Sport while on holiday in America, Clark said: "We are working on new signings but we are in a tricky situation as far as that goes. "A lot of players don't really want to go to the Lowland League, so that is making it difficult."Players would rather play higher up so we are going to need to be patient with it."I know exactly what I'm doing with it and we have got a lot of players we are hoping to get over the line fairly soon, which will make a difference to us."I am comfortable with where we are at the moment.
