A tsunami warning has been issued after an enormous earthquake 7.8m hit Alaska, the United States Geological Survey said. The earthquake was at a depth of 10 km (six miles), the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences added.
If it is not downgraded, it could be the strongest earthquake this year. Frightening noises can be heard in dramatic video footage posted online from Kodiak, Alaska.
One witness said: "Bed and curtains were going. Felt like a very long quake! Felt at Homer, Ak at the end of the Spit at Lands End." Another said: "Felt very dizzy." The warning is in effect for South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula.
