Alan Titchmarsh fears he could “wake up one morning and find I’ve been ‘cancelled’” after being “persuaded” to join social media at the age of 71.
The TV gardener has joined Instagram but insists his innocuous posts about plants should not provoke any backlash. He joked: “I don’t know whether you can have a venomous reaction to a picture of a daffodil.
It probably says more about you if you do, than it does about me.” The presenter says he makes sure to consult his daughters – aged 40 and 42 – before posting anything on the site to avoid causing them any embarrassment.
He said: “I wouldn’t dream of embarrassing my kids. I run things past my kids. When I’m asking: ‘Would you like to do this?’ I’ll say to my daughters: ‘What do you think?’
