Alan Carr has hailed his upcoming tour as his personal form of ‘therapy’ following his split from husband Paul Drayton. The 45-year-old presenter announced in January that he and Paul had gone their separate ways after 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage.

After Lorraine asked how long the former couple were together, he replied: ’14 years, which in gay years is 207 years. ‘I wrote the tour and then our marriage broke down during Covid, because it was so stressful and everything. ‘Then I was going onstage, and I was just like “this doesn’t make sense. ”‘He continued: ‘So we’re divorced now.
He’s excited about the future, I’m excited about the future, but we’ll still always be friends because we’ve been through so much. ’Reflecting on the writing process for his stand-up show, Alan said that his material is ‘from the heart. ’‘It’s quite emotional, uplifting and it was actually my therapy really. ’Alan and Paul said ‘I do’ in 2018, with Alan’s best friend and global icon Adele, becoming ordained so she could marry the pair in an beautiful ceremony.
