Travellers at Oakland International Airport will now be able to buy a Covid-19 testing kit from a vending machine. The airport near San Francisco, California, has become the first in the USA to offer the service, although there are plans to roll the machines out in other cities such as New York and Boston.

Passengers at either of the airport's terminals will be able to pick up a test from the contactless kiosks. Designed by Wellness 4 Humanity, the At-Home Saliva RT-PCT test allows passengers to provide a saliva sample in a tube which they can send to labs using FedEx.

They will then receive their results within 48 hours on an accompanying mobile phone app. Test kit prices range from $130 to $150 (approximately £94-£109).
