Airdrie striker Gabby McGill admits he has unfinished business in the Scottish Championship – and that probably spells bad news for defences.McGill, 22, started his career in Scotland with Dunfermline Athletic in 2019 but played 21 games in that period with just one goal, while he was loaned out to Edinburgh City and York City.He has since been a prolific marksman for the Diamonds, bagging seven goals in 27 games two seasons ago, and 18 in 41 last term as Airdrie won promotion to the second tier.McGill says he wants to prove something by making the step up in style with Rhys McCabe’s side.He said: “It’s going to be a big season for myself and Airdrie and I’m really relishing it, if I’m honest.“For Airdrie to be in the Championship again, ever since I’ve come to the club it has always been where I’ve felt they belong, and that hasn’t changed.“From a personal point of view as well, the first time I came up to Scotland it was in the Championship and things might not have worked out quite how I would have liked, so for me as well it’s a big season.“For me there’s some unfinished business in the Championship.“The first couple of years up there I was in that league and I’ll be the first to say it didn’t quite work out as I would like.“I’m really looking forward to it, there’s no question about it.“This year I’m really relishing it, I think I’ve grown as a player and as a person since then, so I’m really looking forward to it.”McGill signed a one-year contract extension with the Diamonds for this coming season, and is looking forward to getting stuck in to pre-season, with Airdrie having headed to Coleraine in Northern Ireland on Monday.He said: “I’m really happy.
