Airdrie 'dominated' Dundee United and deserved something from Tannadice, says boss

Airdrie boss Rhys McCabe reckons his side deserved at least a point instead of a 2-0 Championship defeat against Dundee United at Tannadice.A fourth-minute strike by Matthew Cudjoe had the Championship favourites ahead and they hit the woodwork a number of times.Airdrie came roaring back into the game, particularly towards the end of the second half, with a number of chances that included Calum Gallagher having a shot cleared off the line.But United hit them on the break and Kai Fotheringham added a clinching second deep into stoppage time.But McCabe pointed out he was missing suspended skipper Adam Frizzell and other key players, while Liam McStravick and Gavin Gallagher made their debuts, and said his young team did well under pressure.He told Airdrie’s website: “I’m frustrated and gutted for the boys.“Gavin Gallagher, Liam McStravick, Murray Aiken, are 18-19 years old, coming away to Tannadice, and I don’t care what you’ve watched – we’ve dominated that game.“We can be critical, in terms of we could be a little bit more creative in the final third, and we were maybe a little bit sloppy with that final pass or final execution.“But in the main, to come away from home with a couple of players missing – we had Frizz missing, certainly individuals – and we were excellent.“We limited them to very few chances and I’m gutted for the boys, because I thought the minimum they deserved was something out of the game.“I’m not going to get too disheartened.
