Airdrie captain Adam Frizzell says their entire squad needs to take a good look in the mirror and reflect on their performance after being hammered by derby rivals Hamilton Accies. The Diamonds suffered one of their heaviest defeats of the season as their Lanarkshire rivals blew them away early on with two goals inside the first nine minutes, before adding a couple more after the break.A Connor Smith strike and a Sam Graham own goal gave the Championship’s bottom side a mountain to climb and it only got worse after the break as Kevin O’Hara and Dylan McGowan got in on the act.Airdrie have won just once in their last 14 games, suffered four straight league defeat and failed to score in their last three outings. The club remain four points adrift at the foot of the table and Frizzell says they must take a good look at where it is going wrong and snap out of their dismal run fast.

Frizzell told the Lanarkshire Live Sport : “We are devastated after that. At times, it was probably the best we’ve been in a few weeks in terms of attacking, getting a few shots and crosses off. “But on the transition, we looked miles off it, first half especially.“We were probably lucky to go in just 2-0 down at half-time.

In the second half, we huffed and puffed a wee bit and then the third goal killed the game off.“We’re struggling in the final third in both boxes.

We’re not being ruthless enough with somebody putting their body on the line to go and clear the ball, and down the other end we aren’t showing that bit of quality to score.“We need to look in the mirror now.
