Berlin Film Festival opening film The Light – which touches on the implications of the digital age for humanity – will be released in English in North America using visual translation technology from Flawless.
Flawless announced it had acquired the drama in conjunction with XYZ Films, which is making the film available to U.S. buyers at the EFM.
The acquisition is the result of a partnership with XYZ, first announced in Cannes, under which they co-acquire rights to foreign-language films to convert them to English for distribution in English-speaking territories using Flawless’ TrueSync technology.
German director Tom Tykwer’s third movie to open the Berlinale, The Light revolves around a middle-class Berlin family nearing collapse as it faces an increasingly unstable world.
