‘Agatha All Along’ Creator Jac Schaeffer To Direct ‘Holes’ TV Pilot For Disney+

Agatha All Along and WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer is taking on another Disney+ project. Schaeffer will direct the pilot episode of the streamer’s upcoming gender-swapped Holes television series, Deadline has confirmed.

The adaptation of Louis Sachar’s 1998 novel was announced in January, reimagining the story with a female lead. Written by Alina Mankin with Liz Phang as showrunner, Holes the series centers on a teenage girl who is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose.

Phang and Mankin executive produce with Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles; the movie’s producer Mike Medavoy; Walden Media, which was behind the 2003 feature; as well as rights holder Shamrock.

20th Television, where Goddard is under a first-look deal, is the studio. Schaeffer is represented by Curate, CAA, and attorney Erik Hyman.
