A prisoner who absconded from a work placement at Hamilton Accies was found perched at the top of a 40-foot tree.Francis Craig was talked down after a five-hour stand-off.He was trusted by jail staff but made his bid for freedom minutes after being left at the Fountain of Youth Stadium.Hamilton Sheriff Court heard he was recaptured 33 miles away in Port Glasgow, his home town.Craig, 40, admitted attempting to defeat the ends of justice by absconding from his work placement on July 22.He was serving a sentence at Barlinnie for robbing a hair salon in Greenock.Neil Thomson, prosecuting, said Craig had worked at the Accies stadium previously and was known to staff there.The fiscal stated: “He was a trusted prisoner.
