People online have been responding to news that Edinburgh is set to become the first city from around the UK to introduce a new tourist tax.
Aimed at visitors staying in the capital, it will see each person taxed £2 for every night they are staying in the city, capped at seven nights.
Everyone staying at paid accommodation across Edinburgh will be included in the tax but it will exclude those staying in campsites.
Used to improve public areas and green spaces across Edinburgh, it could bring in up to £35million each year for the local council to use.
