Abby Lee Miller is suing Hampton Inn & Suites over an August 2020 incident in Santa Monica, California, in which she says she was injured after being struck by a falling door at the hotel.The 56-year-old reality star, according to legal docs reviewed by TMZ, is asking for a minimum of $8.5 million over claims of negligence, discrimination emotional distress, and false imprisonment in connection with the incident.The Dance Moms personality has been using a wheelchair the past four years amid a bout with lymphoma.
She had stayed at the hotel from March of 2020 until October of that year. She was snapped in NYC in October of 2019Miller said in court docs that in the incident, she had wheeled herself out of the bathroom in the room she was staying in when the rear left wheel of her chair was tangled in a sliding door.She said that in her efforts to remove herself, the sliding door, which weighs more than 300 pounds, careened down and left her pinned in her chair.
The Pittsburgh native told the court that she was stuck inside the doorway between six and 12 minutes, and yelled for help when two workers at the hotel arrived and moved the door.Miller told the court she was transported in an ambulance to a local hospital, and has head and shoulder injuries as a result, that she remains treating via physical therapy.
