Abbey Clancy was so terrified of performing live on Strictly Come Dancing she’d have “rather died” and “hated” the tour. Despite many contestants gushing of the buzz of hitting the ballroom dancefloor, it was the reluctant model – married to footballer Peter Crouch – who was crowned winner of the 2013 series with her partner Aljaz Skorjanec. “I loved practising in the rehearsal room, and then when I had to do the live show, I would have rather died,” she admits. “We did a tour in all the arenas and I hated it.
I hated the crowd cheering me.” Former England ace Peter, pictured, encouraged her to let the roar of the crowd spur her on and boost her adrenaline. “It just didn’t work,” she says.
