‘A wake-up call to us all’ Celebs show support for Blackout Tuesday

In a week when systemic racism was brutally exposed some of the world’s biggest stars are taking part in a media blackout to show that Black Lives Matter.

The BlackOut Tuesday campaign comes in the wake of the killing of George Floyd last week where police officer David Chauvin pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds while reportedly ignoring the man’s cries that he couldn’t breathe.

The uproar over his tragic killing has led to widespread riots and demonstrations across the US as thousands take to the streets in protest.

The Show Must Be Paused initiative which has spread globally was organised by music executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang, to encourage people to share a black screen to speak out against
