Manchester United fans have hijacked an Instagram post of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani with his family amid the ongoing takeover saga.
In November, the Glazer family announced they were looking for further investment opportunities in United which included the possibility of selling the club entirely.
After a long and sometimes drawn-out process, two frontrunners have emerged to buy the Reds. INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is wanting to purchase 60 per cent of the club which would open the door to the Glazers potentially remaining as minority owners.
Sheikh Jassim is also in the race and is thought to be in pole position with his offer to buy 100 per cent of United. It was thought the Qatari banker was in second place to take over until recently when several reports emerged suggesting the Glazers were ready to offer him exclusivity but this was dismissed by Sheikh Jassim's camp as 'pure speculation'.
