A protest was held in Manchester city centre to mark the first anniversary of the death of a 12-year-old schoolgirl

As the protest began, the heavens opened, yet despite the torrential rain, it didn’t seem to deter those who wished to support the movement.Before the day’s events began, at around 12.45pm, organisers and some other people sheltered under the Central Library, many with handmade signs reading: “Justice for Shukri Abdi” and “The UK is not innocent”.As the weather subsided, many more people attended, and the organisers led chants of Shukri’s name and ‘no justice, no peace”, which has been heard at the previous BLM protests.All of a sudden, chants from further.
