A man stopped to help after a crash... he was then violently assaulted

Tameside. Police were called to a collision between a blue Volkswagen Polo and a blue Renault Clio on Manchester Road in Audenshaw, on Friday (31 July).

The crash occurred at around 2.20pm near the junctions with Assheton Avenue and Park Road.A man, in his 40s, stopped at the scene to help and was subsequently attacked by several men, police said.During the assault, the man was knocked to the ground, where he received further injuries.

He required hospital treatment for facial injuries.An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, affray, assault and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
