house fire in Edinburgh on Thursday has been named locally as Betty Harrison. Emergency services raced to the blaze on Braehead Avenue in Braepark around 5.19 am yesterday.
Betty was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but sadly died a short time later. Enquiries into the cause of the fire are currently ongoing as devastated neighbours paid tribute to their friend.
Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News, her next door neighbour Francis said: "A neighbour rang my doorbell after 5am and I came out in my pyjamas. “There were huge flames bursting out of Betty's bedroom window upstairs at the front of the house."Today her son, his wife and her two grandsons were here.
