The treatment of Manchester United fans at Galatasaray's Rams Park Stadium has been highlighted in an extensive police survey looking at the experiences of English fans abroad since 2020.
United travelled to Istanbul to face Galatasaray for their penultimate Champions League group match on November 29 and supporters encountered various problems.
There were huge queues for a limited number of turnstiles in use, concerns about overcrowding in tight spaces and a lack of help from stewards or local police.
Those factors meant many fans missed the game kicking off, with some entering the ground 30 minutes into the first half. Poor treatment continued after the final whistle as the travelling fans were held back for as long as 80 minutes, meaning they missed transport away from the stadium.
