England Under-21s boss Lee Carsley says Cole Palmer 'looked a little tired' during Tuesday’s training session but has no qualms given his Treble achievement with Manchester City.

Palmer has been included in the squad for this summer’s U21 European Championships in Romania and Georgia. He is joined by City colleagues James Trafford, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle.

The latter three spent the season out on loan in the EFL while Palmer racked up 25 appearances for the Blues first-team. He joined in with City’s Treble celebrations after Saturday’s Champions League triumph and has no joined up with the Young Lions. “He trained on Tuesday and he trained again today, he trained well,” Carsley said. “He will be doing a lot of sleeping I would imagine over the next few days, but it is brilliant that he had such a good experience.
