Legendary 80s star Chris Cross, who was best known as the bass guitarist in the band Ultravox, has sadly died. Chris, whose real name is Chris Allen, passed away on Monday, 25 March at the age of 71 but the news was announced a week later on Monday, 1 April.
His bandmate, Midge Ure shared a heartfelt tribute following the news as he said: "We worked together, we played together, made music and directed videos together. "We were instant friends as well as Ultravox comrades.
Even after years apart we managed to pick up where we left off like the years in between never existed. You were the glue that held the band together. "You were the logic in the madness and the madness in our lives.
It was great to know and grow with you. You are loved and missed old friend." The cause of his death remains unknown. Fans also paid tribute to the bass player from Ultravox as one wrote: "Devastated to hear the news of Chris cross’s passing a real hero of mine from the early days of Tiger Lilly and through the two incarnations of Ultravox never the front man but an essential part of their hits." A second penned: "Such sad news about the passing of Chris Cross.
