Dundee United moved joint top of Premiership - trailing Rangers and Hearts on goal difference - after notching their third win on the spin thanks to their defensive duo of Ryan Edwards and Charlie Mulgrew.
Edwards gave Tam Courts’ side the lead in front of 6854 fans before Tony Watt’s penalty dragged Motherwell back into the contest - only for Mulgrew to snatch victory with a volley 12 minutes from time.
Kick off was delayed for 15 minutes due to the late arrival of the Motherwell team bus which was caught up in a traffic jam.But it didn’t take long for both sides - separated by only three points pre-kick - to get up to speed.
