Selome Hailu With appearances from Taylor Swift and NSYNC and performances by Shakira, Demi Lovato and Doja Cat, this year’s MTV Video Music Awards ceremony brought in 37% more viewers than the 2022 ceremony.
Tuesday’s show was watched by 865,000 people compared to 630,000 the year before. Based on fast national data from Nielsen, these statistics account for both telecasts’ viewership on the MTV linear channel alone, with simulcast data from other platforms yet to come.
2023’s VMAs also improved on 2022’s demographic ratings, nabbing a 1.03 in the key 18-49 demo and a 1.14 among adults age 18-34.
This marks a 77% improvement from last year’s 0.58 rating in adults 18-49 and a 118% improvement from last year’s 0.52 rating in adults 18-34.
