The 2021 Super Bowl ratings are in and Sunday’s broadcast had 96.4 million total multiplatform viewers. While 96 million viewers does seem like a lot, it is actually the lowest watched Super Bowl since 2007.
To put this into perspective, last year’s Super Bowl brought in 102 million viewers. Many are theorizing why ratings might have been down.
The game was relatively non competitive with the Chiefs not scoring a single offensive touchdown the entire game, despite having Patrick Mahomes, one of the best quarterbacks playing right now. Tom Brady only threw for just over 200 years, which is not a lot considering the Buccaneers scored 31 points.
