Fourteen students and one teacher were killed at an elementary school west of San Antonio today, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said.
He also confirmed that the 18-year-old gunman was shot dead by officer as cable news outlets have gone to blanket coverage of the horrific crime at Ross Elementary School in Ulvade.Two officers also were hit by gunfire but not seriously injured.The school is about 85 west of San Antonio and has an enrollment of about 600 students.
The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District was placed on lockdown amid the incident.Most of the victims were taken to Ulvade Memorial Hospital, which wrote this on Facebook at 12:47 p.m.
