At least 12 people have died after a deadly braze broke out at a hospital treating Covid-19 patients. The fire is said to have started in a critical care unit early this morning in Vijay Vallabh hospital, in Mumbai, India.
There were 90 patients in the hospital at the time, 18 of them in the ICU when the fire broke out. The victims include five women and eight men.
The incident comes as India battles a second wave of cases and deaths, which has become even bigger than the daily coronavirus infections seen in the first wave last year.
Health officials across northern and western India, including the capital, New Delhi, said they were in crisis, with most hospitals full and running out of oxygen.
