Every year right about now, the Emmy race starts ramping up, with lots of shows releasing in the spring sweet spot — they’ll be fresh in your minds for Emmys campaigning and inside of the May 31 eligibility cut-off date.
Of course we’ll have plenty of big returning awards-centric shows—The Last of Us, Hacks, Poker Face, The Bear, Severance and The White Lotus, to name just a few— but what are the brand new shows we have yet to see?
You’ve likely already been watching Hulu’s twisty new show Paradise, which reunites Sterling K. Brown with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, Max’s The Pitt is bringing back the medical drama in a big way, CBS Kathy Bates-starrer Matlock is one to watch that’s already renewed for Season 2, as is Netflix’s smash hit Nobody Wants This… these new shows already made their debut.
But with a tidal wave of TV still to come, here are ten hotly-anticipated brand new scripted shows set for spring, in order of release date: Based on Liz Moore’s the bestselling thriller novel of the same name, Long Bright River stars Amanda Seyfried as Mickey Fitzpatrick, a police officer on the beat in a Philadelphia neighborhood buckling under the opioid crisis.
