Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen signed a new four-year deal at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday - which could spell bad news for fellow left-backs Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.
Maatsen joined the Blues from PSV Eindhoven as a 16-year-old in July 2018, before putting pen to paper on his first professional deal just eight months later.
The Dutchman was handed his first start by Frank Lampard this season, coming on as a substitute in a 7-1 Carabao Cup win over Grimsby back in September.
And according to The Athletic, Maatsen extending his stay at the club indicates he is expecting to compete for first-team minutes as early as next season.
