Zack Snyder seems to have fully embraced the Netflix model. After dealing with nothing but WB drama regarding the release of “Justice League,” the filmmaker has found a creative partnership with Netflix which allows him to create just about anything he wants.

Zack Snyder is no stranger to shared cinematic universes, as he was the original man behind the DCEU series of films. At least there, the idea of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman all existing in the same universe makes sense and is part of the greater DC Universe canon.

Rebel Moon film have opened up on how they feel about Zack Snyder‘s sci-fi film franchise no longer being attached to Star Wars.Last week, Netflix released the trailer for Snyder’s Rebel Moon, confirming its December 22 release date on the platform. December’s film, titled Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire, will be the first of two films in the franchise.

It’s the first part of two, and reportedly had a combined budget of $166million.The first part is officially titled Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child Of Fire, while the second instalment, expected to be released in 2024, is called Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver.The film’s cast is led by Sofia Boutella as fearsome warrior Kora, alongside Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, Fra Fee and Anthony Hopkins, who plays an android on a journey of self-discovery.An official synopsis reads: “When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora, a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.“Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge.

When filmmaker Zack Snyder (“Man of Steel“) started a working relationship with Netflix, starting with “Army of The Dead,” it was obvious that he was looking to have the streamer bankroll a bunch of his passion projects that other studios weren’t interested in. After a bit of a rough time at the end of his run of Warner Bros./DC films, it appears Zack Snyder has settled in quite nicely over at Netflix with a deal that allows the filmmaker the freedom to make, basically, whatever he wants. That freedom includes the option of turning his new sci-fi epic, “Rebel Moon,” into a two-part film series.
