For many years now Daniel Lopatin, a.k.a. Oneohtrix Point Never, has been involved in the world of TV and movie music, notably scoring the Safdie brothers' movies Good Time and Uncut Gems. Now he can add Star Wars to his resume.

The Weeknd has landed his first starring role in a movie, which Oneohtrix Point Never will score.The film, which as yet is untitled, was co-written by the singer with director Trey Edward Shults and will also star Wednesday actor Jenna Ortega and The Banshees Of Inisherin‘s Barry Keoghan.It has also been confirmed that the movie will be soundtracked by Oneohtrix Point Never, who previously worked with Abel Tesfaye on his 2022 album ‘Dawn FM’ and remixed the title track.The Weeknd previously appeared in 2019’s Netflix movie Uncut Gems and he is set to appear in HBO series The Idol as a self-help guru, club owner and leader of a modern-day cult, who begins dating an up-and-coming pop artist played by Lily-Rose Depp. It was co-created with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.Meanwhile, Tesfaye recently shared a remix of his 2016 song ‘Die For You’, featuring new vocals from longtime collaborator Ariana Grande.The song first appeared on the tracklist of The Weeknd’s third studio album, ‘Starboy’.

Charli XCX may have teased the guests who’ll feature on her upcoming fifth studio album.The singer took to social media yesterday (November 1), first saying she’d “be revealing a lot of secrets this week” before tweeting a long list of artists.Those mentioned include frequent collaborators A.G. Cook, Christine and the Queens and Caroline Polachek, along with Rina Sawayama, Oneohtrix Point Never and many more.

Oneohtrix Point Never has shared a new version of his track ‘Tales From The Trash Stratum’, featuring Cocteau Twins‘ Elizabeth Fraser.The pair’s reimagining of the track does away with the frantic, glitching synths on the original and replaces them with plucked strings and keys, while Fraser’s vocals are overlayed.Listen to the track below: The new rework of ‘Tales From The Trash Stratum’ is one of four bonus tracks being released as part of a new Blu-ray edition of the producer’s ninth studio album, ‘Magic Oneohtrix Point Never’, which is due to arrive in October.The expanded edition of the album will also contain the previously released reimagining of ‘Nothing’s Special’ featuring Rosalía and two remixes of ‘Lost But Never Alone’ from PC
