Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has helped almost double the game’s concurrent player count after it was released on PC earlier this year.According to SteamDB, when Monster Hunter Rise came to PC on January 12 this year it had around 135,000 concurrent players. That number then plateaued out in March to somewhere around 20,000.Since the Sunbreak expansion released on June 30, the number of concurrent players has seen a massive increase, with 231,000 concurrent players being achieved yesterday on July 3.

Capcom has announced plans to make PC its main platform for games according to a report from Japanese outlet, Nikkei.In a paywalled interview with Nikkei and translated by Bloomberg reporter, Takashi Mochizuki, Capcom president and COO (chief operating officer), Haruhiro Tsujimoto explained that the publisher wants to focus on the PC as the company’s main platform for games.By 2022 or 2023, it aims to have software sales on consoles and PC to be at 50 per cent each. Tsujimoto explained the plans at the Tokyo Game Show shortly after the announcement that Nintendo Switch exclusive, Monster Hunter Rise, is coming to PCs in January 2022.Previously, Capcom has increasingly supported simultaneous launches for PC and console.

Capcom has announced Rush from the Mega Man series as its next Capcom Collab for Monster Hunter Rise, as a new Palamute layered armour.The new free DLC is available from September 24, although like previous DLC, it will require players to complete a specific Event Quest in order to obtain the parts to craft.Mega Man’s robotic dog has been a mainstay in the classic platforming series since 1990’s Mega Man 3 on the NES, although the clip showing Rush in action is inspired by his latest iteration in Mega Man 11.READY? Capcom has revealed that Monster Hunter Rise is getting a Street Fighter crossover, with Akuma coming as hunter layered armour.While hunter layered armour is a cosmetic that’s worn over the player’s stats-based armour, the trailer shown for this ‘Capcom Collab’ appears to have a twist.Without wielding a weapon, it appears that Akuma will be able to fight monsters performing his signature fighting moves from the Street Fighter games, including his ‘Goshoryuken’ dragon punch and ‘Tatsumaki Zankukyaku’ hurricane kick.There have been Street Fighter crossovers with Monster Hunter in the past, such as Ryu in Monster Hunter: World, although his signature ‘Hadouken’ and ‘Shoryuken’ moves were only available as emotes that had to be unlocked as paid

Capcom have revealed the monsters and features that will be coming to Monster Hunter Rise in Title Update 2.0 on April 28.During the Monster Hunter digital event, elder dragons Teostra and Kushala Daora were confirmed as new additions for Monster Hunter Rise. They will join the game alongside long-teased elder dragon Chameleos, and apex versions of regular monsters Rathalos and Diablos.The free update will launch tomorrow (April 28) and will lift the hunter rank cap, add new monsters, new event quests, new arena challenges, and new weapons and armour.

Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise has now shipped five million copies worldwide following a successful launch weekend.While that same figure was reached within the opening week of Monster Hunter: World, that title was also available on multiple platforms.To celebrate of the milestone, Monster Hunter Rise players can now claim a Commemorative Item Pack in the game.Kamura Pack 1 includes 30 Mega Potions, 20 Well-done Steaks, 10 Large Barrel Bombs, five Mega Demondrugs and five Mega Armorskins.The item pack is free for all Monster Hunter Rise players.

Monster Hunter Rise shipped over 4million units worldwide over the weekend, Capcom has announced.The latest entry in the long running Monster Hunter series has  sold over 4million copies since its launch for the Nintendo Switch on Friday March 27.In comparison, the series’ previous entry, Monster Hunter World, sold 5million copies in three days across its release on the Xbox One and PS4.Capcom also announced in a news post that the series as a whole had shipped over 66million units worldwide since December 31 2020, making “a global phenomenon” in their words.Monster Hunter has been a large success in Japan since the first entry released in 2004.

Monster Hunter Rise is out today (Friday 26) but the launch trailer already has players eagerly anticipating what’s in store with future updates.The end of the trailer provides an outline of free post-launch content players can expect, including a sneak peek of a new monster.The launch trailer gives a good overview of what players can expect from Monster Hunter Rise, showcasing the new wirebug mechanic used for both traversal and combat, the new village hub of Kamura, as well as glimpses of fights against some formidable monsters.However, the second half of the trailer reveals a silhouette of a fire-breathing wyvern, Apex Rathalos.

Monster Hunter Rise releases worldwide on Nintendo Switch this Friday (March 26th), and one Japanese company has made the day an official holiday.As spotted by Twitter user Stealth, Masaki Hiyama, CEO of tech developer Mark-On Ltd., revealed that he received a high volume of requests from employees who wanted to take Friday off to play Monster Hunter Rise as soon as possible.This is amazing…… a Japanese Company is giving employees the day off for a new holiday "Monster Hunter Rise Launch Day" because so many employees were planning on taking the day off anyway.
