Le Tigre have announced a variety of support acts for their first UK and European tour in 18 years.The Kathleen Hanna-fronted band will be supported in London by Dream Wife, Glasgow and Manchester by Problem Patterns, Paris by Big Joanie and Chicks On Speed in Amsterdam, Berlin and Hamburg. Kathleen Hanna has spoken to NME about her brand new memoir Rebel Girl: My Life As A Feminist Punk – tackling her life and experiences with the riot grrrl movement, Fugazi and Courtney Love. Having risen to fame fronting the legendary punk band Bikini Kill – who pioneered the riot grrrl movement with their fiery lyrics and electrifying live performances – Hanna worked to make the punk scene a safe and inclusive space for women. Upon the band’s breakup, Hanna went on to front seminal bands Le Tigre and The Julie Ruin.Rebel Girl: My Life As A Feminist Punk – released this week – provides an in-depth look into the story of Hanna’s tumultuous childhood and the realities of being a feminist on the frontlines of the male-dominated punk scene; facing violence and antagonism that threatened at every turn.“I did an interview with Sarah Marcus, who wrote the book Girls To The Front and when I was telling her about some of the stuff, she was shocked,” Hanna told NME.

Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna has announced details of a new memoir, titled Rebel Girl: My Life As A Feminist Punk.Set for release in May next year via HarperCollins imprint Ecco, the book looks to discuss the emergence of the ’90s feminist punk movement, and detail the life and relationships of the artist.It also explores how Hanna became a founder of the Riot Grrrl movement and went on to inspire the likes of Kurt Cobain and Sonic Youth with her attitude and work as a musician, as well as her struggle with Lyme disease. Le Tigre have settled their lawsuit with singer Barry Mann around their song ‘Deceptacon’.Mann initially had sent Hanna and Fatemen cease-and-desist letters alleging that the 1999 song infringed upon his own 1961 track, ‘Who Put The Bomp (Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)’. Le Tigre then filed a countersuit against Mann, where they claimed that his song is “not original” and that he had “no legitimate copyright claim”.The claims in the suit, as reported by Pitchfork, were “amicably resolved” in a confidential agreement with no public admission of liability.
