James Gunn and Suda51 have taken to Twitter to confirm they’re not involved in the recently announced Lollipop Chainsaw remake.Yesterday (July 5) it was confirmed that the game’s original producer Yoshimi Yasuda will be working on the remake through his Dragami Games studio alongside “a combination of development staff from the original version”.However, it’s since been revealed that neither creative director Suda51 nor co-writer James Gunn will have any involvement in the new project.Taking to Twitter, Gunn said he only heard about the project “a couple of weeks ago” from Suda.“I neither endorse nor condemn it,” he added. “I simply don’t know anything about it.

Dragami Games has announced that it’s developing a remake of cult-classic Lollipop Chainsaw, with many of the original developers returning. The game’s original producer Yoshimi Yasuda will return, alongside “a combination of development staff from the original version, including Yasuda as producer, and new development staff from Dragami Games,” (via IGN).Due out in 2023, no platforms have been announced for the game as of yet. According to IGN, this version of the game will recreate the original with “a more realistic approach to graphics,” and new music, as the licenses for some of the 16 tracks in the 2012 game are no longer in effect.Despite being called a remake on multiple occasions, it’s currently unclear exactly what form this version of Lollipop Chainsaw will take, and if it will release as more of a remaster with improved visuals and minor changes to the overall experience.

Grasshopper Manufacture has been acquired by Chinese publisher NetEase.Suda shared the news earlier this morning (October 22) on Twitter, while a full statement from the official Grasshopper Manufacture website states that the equity transfer agreement with NetEase, the second largest games company in China only behind Tencent, was signed back in May.While it marks a significant move for No More Heroes studio known for its creative, ultraviolent, and scrappy style of games – in the past also using the motto, “Punk’s not dead” – Grasshopper Manufacture had also previously been owned by GungHo Online Entertainment.

No More Heroes 3 gameplay has shown off the game’s open-world ahead of its release next month.The footage, which was uploaded by YouTuber xPeter’s Archive, shows protagonist Travis Touchdown travelling across the world on bike and by foot. No More Heroes 3 is set in a fictional town called Santa Destroy and developed by Grasshopper Manufacture.Footage to date has primarily focused on the game’s narrative and action elements, showing Travis in combat segments.
