Gears Of War creator Cliff Bleszinski has approved of Zack Snyder potentially directing a movie based on the acclaimed video game series.While at Gamescom 2023 to promote his upcoming film Rebel Moon, Snyder was asked which video game franchises he thinks would make for good films.“Gears [Of War] has always come up in our sort of circle,” he briefly teased before saying that he has always been interested in the Halo franchise, though he acknowledges that Paramount has already released a series based on the game.While he did not say much else about Gears Of War, Snyder has been a hot favourite among fans of the video game to helm a potential film.A Gears Of War film was green-lit at Netflix last year, though any further information on its development has remained scarce at the time of publishing. A tentative release date, cast and director have not been announced for the film.Now, Cliff Bleszinski has reacted to Snyder’s interest in a Gears Of War film, saying he “approves” of Snyder leading a movie, though he has one condition.

Gears Of War creator Cliff Bleszinski said he’s “moved on” from the series after Microsoft didn’t take him up on his consultancy offer.Bleszinski worked at Epic Games between 1992 and 2012 and was lead designer for the first three Gears Of War games.Despite not working on the franchise since 2011’s Gears Of War 3, Bleszinski has released a statement about his involvement in the series going forward.Taking to social media, Bleszinski wrote that he is still “down to consult” on the series and share his “two cents” but has heard nothing but “crickets” from Microsoft and current Gears Of War developer The Coalition.“I understand that Gears will always be an enormous part of my legacy. I appreciate and respect that. That said, Microsoft and Coalition haven’t hit me up.

Gears Of War designer Cliff ‘CliffyB’ Bleszinski has revealed he once pitched a game similar to Palworld to Epic Games, but was turned down.Released earlier this month in Early Access, Palworld has quickly become one of the most popular games on Steam. Creators PocketPair have reported upwards of 8million copies of the game have been sold in a week while earlier today (January 26), it became only the second ever game to pass 2million concurrent players on Steam, with PUBG being the first.Now Bleszinski has taken to social media to talk about how validating Palworld’s success has been for him.“Palworld‘s success kinda validates my pitch that was turned down at Epic many years ago,” he wrote with his idea revolving around “medieval Pokémon with baby dragons instead.”Responding to a fan, Bleszinski revealed that his pitch for the mobile game “just never went anywhere”.It just…never went anywhere.

Even though it appears that “Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners” isn’t getting a Season 2, Netflix is keen to keep its video game adaptations coming. For its latest franchise, the studio is hoping that bringing “Gears of War” to life will do the trick.  According to THR, Netflix has scored the rights to adapt the “Gears of War” video game franchise into a new multimedia behemoth.

The Coalition, Xbox‘s Gears of War studio, may be working on an original game series. That’s assuming the LinkedIn profile of one of the company’s level designers is accurate.Spotted by Xbox Insider, Klobrille, and then VGC, the LinkedIn description described an employee at The Coalition as working as a level designer on “new IP’ as of February 2021.
