A new Gallup poll finds LGBTQ identification in the U.S. expanding annually with 7.6 percent of U.S. adults now identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or some other sexual orientation other than heterosexual. This latest percentage is up a full two percent from 5.6 percent four years ago and is more than double the 3.5 percent of 2012, Gallup’s first year of surveying sexual orientation and transgender identity.

A new Gallup Poll released Wednesday finds an overwhelming majority of Americans support writers and actors over studios in the ongoing dual Hollywood strikes.

Same-sex marriage has never been more popular in the United States than it is today, according to a recent poll. According to Gallup’s annual Value and Beliefs poll – taken every year during the month of May – 71 percent of Americans claim they support marriage, besting the previous high of 70 percent recorded in 2021.When Gallup first began the poll back in 1996, only 27 percent of Amercians supported gay marriage. Despite this dismal first poll, support for same-sex nuptials would steadily rise in the subsequent years.

The Cure’s Robert Smith and Simon Gallup picked up the Icon Award at tonight’s (May 19) Ivor Novello awards in London.The frontman and the bassist have been part of the band’s lineup since 1978 and 1979 respectively, helping to turn the band into one of the UK’s most beloved and iconic indie acts.During the ceremony at Grosvenor House tonight, Smith and Gallup were presented the Icon Award by their long-time agent, Martin Hopewell from Primary Talent. “The best part of half a century ago when I was a young whippersnapper booking agent, I was persuaded to get down to a small hotel in Crawley, of all places, to see a new and even younger band called The Cure, who were playing halfway up the bill of some sort of talent night,” Hopewell reminisced as he introduced the musicians.“I wish I could say it was some kind of blinding light, road to Damascus experience but nevertheless… when we met up on the street outside afterwards, I agreed to start helping them get some gigs and that makes one of very few decisions I’ve made in my life that I don’t want to go back in time and give myself a clip around the ear for making.”Noting that The Cure had gone from playing “the smallest clubs and colleges to the biggest arenas and festivals”, he celebrated their “famously epic live shows and timeless songs that have inspired countless other artists and embedded themselves into the lives of millions of people”.Hopewell continued to highlight the friendship between Smith and Gallup, while also praising The Cure as a whole for their “unique” artistry.

New Gallup polling data shows 7.1 percent of the U.S. population identifies as LGBTQ – up from 5.6 percent in 2020. The new data, released yesterday, further reveals the enormous gap in LGBTQ elected representation in the U.S., where just 0.2 percent of elected positions are held by LGBTQ people.

Simon Gallup has seemingly confirmed that he has re-joined The Cure.Back in August, bassist Gallup said he left the band “with a slightly heavy heart,” writing that he’s “fed up of betrayal.”Gallup joined the band in 1979 following a stint playing in Robert Smith’s side-project Cult Hero. After leaving the band in 1982, he rejoined in 1984, and is The Cure’s second longest-serving member behind Smith.“With a slightly heavy heart I am no longer a member of the Cure!” Gallup wrote in a public post on his personal Facebook account last night (August 14).

Simon Gallup announced he’s leaving the English rock band The Cure after four decades as its bassist.  The 61-year-old musician announced the news with an incredibly brief statement shared on his Facebook Saturday.  "With a slightly heavy heart I am no longer a member of the Cure ! Good luck to them all," he wrote.  In response to a commenter asking if he was OK given the abrupt change, Gallup noted that he’s fine, "just fed up of betrayal." Unfortunately, he didn’t elaborate on the betrayal he’s speaking of.  Representatives for The Cure did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Good luck to them all,” Gallup wrote on Facebook. Responding to a comment asking if the departure is health-related, Gallup said, “I’m ok… just got fed up of betrayal.”The Cure has not yet commented on Gallup’s exit, but in 2018, frontman Robert Smith told the Irish Times that if Gallup were to leave the band, “it wouldn’t be called the Cure.”In 2019, Smith told NME, “For me, the heart of the live band has always been Simon, and he’s always been my best friend.
