The next year is expected to be massive for Jonathan Majors. Not only is he the co-lead in the upcoming drama, “Creed III,” but he also happens to be the villain of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” as well as the overall next Marvel big bad.

The looming specter of whiteness often plagues stories of Black achievement, overshadowing what should be singular moments of triumph. Though it is true that these legends disrupted the framework of whiteness and pushed the world towards progress, the films about them don’t necessarily need to follow that same structural path.

“It’s rare when the thing that you’re working on so deeply reaches in your own life, your own history, your own family,” says director J.D. Dillard, whose forthcoming “Devotion” is as much a historical drama as it is an exploration of his own ancestry and childhood.

As theatrical dates continue to be in flux, and a reported VFX pipeline crisis is building thanks to the delays created by COVID, Sony Pictures has updated their 2022 and 2023 slate giving audiences an idea of what to look forward to in the coming months along with some having to wait a bit longer for more popular titles. First up, Sony announced their highly anticipated animated film “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” has been bumped to June 2, 2023.

Devotion developer Red Candle Games, Nine Sols, has received its first full trailer and has launched its crowdfunding campaign.This first trailer for Nine Sols finally shows the game in action, giving us a good first look at the game’s “hand-drawn, 2D action-platformer featuring Sekiro-inspired deflection focused combat, immersive storytelling, and unique Taopunk setting.” Red Candle Games have also launched a crowdfunding campaign for the game, which has already reached its goal of around £80,000 (NT$3,000,000). A description of the game reads, “Explore the land once home to an ancient alien race, and follow a vengeful hero’s quest to slay the nine Sols, formidable rulers of this forsaken realm.”Red Candle Games described its vision for Nine Sols on its crowdfunding page, saying the studio wants to “Build a stylish Taopunk world that blends cyberpunk/sci-fi elements with Taoism and Far Eastern mythology.” It also wants to recreate the deflection focused Sekiro combat but for 2D, as well as mixing it with side-scrolling exploration.
