Idris Elba, Mumford & Sons Among 50 Musical Artists Urging U.K. Prime Minister to Tackle Post-Brexit Touring Crisis
K.J. Yossman More than 50 of the U.K.’s top musical artists have signed a letter urging British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to urgently tackle a post-Brexit touring crisis looming on the horizon.Following the U.K.’s exit from the European Union, British artists will now need extra permissions — such as work visas and permits — to move themselves, their crew and equipment between Britain and EU member states, including France and Germany. The artists, which include actor and DJ Idris Elba, folk rock group Mumford & Sons and legendary pop rock act Duran Duran, cite the additional cost, administrative burden and delays as a threat to the live music industry, which has already been severely impacted by the pandemic.
