The One Show star slams Liz Truss for cancelling interview days before PM vote
The One Show let rip on PM hopeful Liz Truss after she cancelled and interview at the last minute leaving them with an empty slot.Host Ronan Keating and Alex Jones were on hand to host the magazine-style chat show when they welcomed journalist Nick Robinson on as a guest, before telling fans he was supposed to be interviewing Truss in this exact time slot but that she has bailed on the interview.Nick started his comments by sharing that he hadn’t bothered to shave because “if he had been interviewing a candidate for Prime Minister then maybe the beard would have gone.”READ MORE: BBC The One Show's Jermaine Jenas swipes at Alex Jones as she questions his skillsAles Jones said: "We’re here one BBC One it should have been you interviewing Liz Truss to tell us what’s happened.""Well, the real answer you’ve already given she decided to do it and then at the last minute she cancelled."We thought it would be good to do a long interview and ask questions that viewers of the one show can get answers too. "They eventually agreed in writing and we put it in the TV listing and you might have seen it in your paper or in radio times and then just a few days ago we were told that she was too busy," said Nick.He went on to say that this would have been a good opportunity for her to connect with the public outside of the safety of her own orchestrated media appearances and campaign videos.
