Iceland Airwaves has revealed the first bands for its long-awaited return in 2022 – see the full line-up for the November festival below.The Reykjavík-based festival has not taken place since 2019, with its 2020 and 2021 editions both cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. On both occasions, a ‘Live From Reykjavík’ livestream was hosted in its place.After Iceland recently dropped all its COVID restrictions, Iceland Airwaves will now finally return from November 2-5 this year, and the first 14 acts for the festival have been announced, including Amyl & the Sniffers, Arlo Parks, Crack Cloud, Metronomy and local stars Daughters of Reykjavík, who are favourites to represent Iceland at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest.See the full line-up so far for Iceland Airwaves 2022 below.

Daughters of Reykjavík have shared the song they hope to represent Iceland with at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest – hear ‘Turn This Around’ below.The eight-piece rap collective are currently favourites to proceed from Iceland’s live TV contest Söngvakeppnin, which will choose the country’s representative for this year’s contest in Turin.“‘Turn This Around’ is a song that represents the energy Daughters of Reykjavík possess and give,” the band said of the new track.“It is a song made to inspire people to move, to change, to take action and to love themselves and others. It represents the space we can take up if we so choose as well as the things we can give.”Listen to ‘Turn This Around’ below.Daughters of Reykjavík announced that they were planning to run to become Iceland’s 2022 Eurovision entry earlier this month.The Söngvakeppnin 2022 entries are being split across two semi-finals, with the second set to take place on Saturday (March 5).

Eurovision entry for Ireland.The County Londonderry singer was chosen on RTÉ’s Late Late Eurosong special on Friday (February 4), where six acts competed to fly the flag for Ireland in Italy in May.Scullion’s song ‘That’s Rich’ was chosen by the combined votes from the public, an international jury and a studio jury. “I don’t know how to feel, honestly, oh my goodness – it’s just unbelievable,” she told BBC Radio Foyle.Scullion initially found fame as a finalist of The Voice UK 2020 where she was mentored by Meghan Trainor.According to the BBC, the singer has received well-wishes from celebrities such as Trainor, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell from Channel 4’s Derry Girls, and former Eurovision winner Dana.In other news, Mika was recently announced as one of a trio of hosts for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Daughters Of Reykjavík are competing in Söngvakeppnin, Iceland’s talent competition dedicated to deciding who will represent the country at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.The Söngvakeppnin 2022 entries will be split across two semi-finals on February 26 and March 5. Feminist hip-hop collective Daughters of Reykjavïk will join Amarosis, Stefán Óli, Haffi Haff, Stefanía Svavarsdóttir, Sigga, Beta and Elín, Markéta Irglová, SUNCITY & SANNA, Katla, and Hanna Mia and The Astrotourists in the competition.Public votes will decide which acts will reach the semi-finals and there’s also a “potential wildcard entry” voted on by Söngvakeppnin’s executive committee.International jury votes and televotes will decide on the winner at the March 12 final.
