Duran Duran are set to perform with Blur‘s Graham Coxon at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.The band will appear as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations and will premiere a new single at the awards event, which takes place on May 23.

Chris Willman Music WriterDuran Duran has been named as a performer for the Billboard Music Awards, where the group will premiere a new single remotely from England, bringing in as their collaborator a fellow Brit, Blur’s Graham Coxon.Their appearance May 23 will be the first on a BBMAs telecast by the group, the fourth artist to be named for a performance slot following announcements for BTS, the Weeknd and Pink.The single Duran Duran will be premiering will advance a new album, the band’s first since 2015’s “Paper Gods.”“Before the pandemic struck, there was a new Duran Duran almost finished,” Nick Rhodes told Vogue in April.

Duran Duran thanked the late David Bowie for inspiring them to become musicians. The British band performed virtually as part of the 24-hour A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day event on Saturday, and covered the iconic musician's track Five Years to mark the special occasion.

Duran Duran have been confirmed as the final headliners for British Summertime Festival in July.
