Thania Garcia Sony Music Publishing has signed a global deal with singer-songwriter and actress Dove Cameron, who has seen major success this year following her gold-certified queer anthem, “Boyfriend.” The 26-year-old singer-actress — who won a Daytime Emmy Award for her dual role as the eponymous characters in the Disney Channel series “Liv and Maddie” — recently released her follow-up single and video, “Breakfast.”  “Dove is a brilliant songwriter – her creative authenticity has not only led to chart success, but it has enabled her to become an important voice representing the LGBTQ+ community,” said Thomas Krottinger, Sony Music Publishing VP of creative. “We’re thrilled to welcome Dove to SMP, and we look forward to supporting her in this next chapter.”

Thania Garcia Island Records has promoted Steven Rowen to senior vice president, head of international marketing. In his new role, Rowen will continue to oversee global marketing across the Island roster which includes Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, the Killers, Lauren Spencer Smith and more.“Steven is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced executives in the global marketing field,” said Mike Alexander, general manager of Island Records.

Alexander will continue to be based in New York and report jointly to Majid and Eshak.A nearly two-decade veteran of Island’s parent company Universal Music Group, Alexander has for the past year been an executive VP at Island, overseeing the operations for the label including releases by Shawn Mendes, the Killers, Demi Lovato and others. He previously served as executive vice president of international for UMG, a position that jointly encompassed Island Records, Def Jam Recordings and Republic Records.
