Joshua Johnson’s NBC News Now show, which has been streaming nightly for the past year, will have its final episode on Friday.

Gadi Schwartz will anchor the 8 PM ET hour on NBC News Now, filling the time slot on the network streaming channel after Joshua Johnson’s exit in November.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV EditorMSNBC is still trying to perfect its weekend formula.The NBCUniversal-backed cable-news outlet is expected to announce Tuesday that Ayman Mohyeldin, an NBC News correspondent and anchor who hasn’t shied away from offering opinion and analysis in his past coverage of events in the Middle East, will get a new show, “Ayman,” on MSNBC’s weekend primetime lineup starting September 18.  Mohyeldin, who currently anchors MSNBC’s 3p.m.

He will take over a Sunday hour that had only recently been assigned to anchor Joshua Johnson.

MSNBC has scheduled a Sunday evening version of The Mehdi Hasan Show, which debuted weeknights last year on the streaming service Peacock.

Alicia Menendez, who joined the network in late 2019, will debut “American Voices” on Saturdays and Sundays between 6 p.m.
